“I told you not to go inside. This place is still closed, Lillia. This maze will open soon for visitors who like to experience extreme passion, even in chocolate. Many people have a passion for experiencing fear, Niña. Haven’t they?”
As Lillia traversed the cabin, afraid of her shadow, an unexpected event happened.
She stepped slowly towards the centre of the shed while deathly silence blanketed the whole area.
The young girl felt like an animal, trapped in panic, ready to face the inevitable.
Suddenly, she stopped in her tracks as her attention was drawn to a path that led to another metal gate.
With trembling hands, she pushed open the gate, which revealed numberless cobwebbed paths within.
She realised then that this was no ordinary shed. This was a maze made of chocolate. An unbreakable, dark chocolate maze.
A tapestry of enigmatic questions chased her mind.
As panic clawed at her throat with its sharp fingers, she suddenly heard roars and horrible laughter emerging from everywhere.
Her heart hammered against her ribs like a drum.
She blindly started running, covering her ears tightly.
As she ran through the zigzag, undless narrow paths, the air inside grew deep and thick.
Her heart skipped a beat when fluorescent flashlights blurred her sight, making her step back sightlessly into a corner.
Thereabout a mixture of figures loomed on top of her, snarling with anger.
Over her head, an enormous chocolate bird appeared, flying with its sticky toffee claws while a slender, white figure erupted from beneath the rear of the shed.
A fatal terror inflated Lillia from head to toe, paralysing her every move.
Her whispers turned into screams as another silhouette, disguised in a coloured lollipop, came close to her.
“CHOCOLATE! SWEETS! Do you still like them, haha? THEY ARE DELICIOUS! HAHA,” the terrible voice roared into Lillia’s ears.
Full of dread, the young girl squashed into a corner trying to avoid the strange figure when, unexpectedly, a gate opened behind her, and she heard Caramella’s voice yelping anxiously, “Niña, are you here?”
As fast as her legs could carry her, the young girl ran into Caramella’s arms and burst into tears.
“I’m sorry,” she sobbed, oppressed by her feelings of guilt and dissatisfaction.
Caressing Lillia’s hand, Caramella whispered kindly, “It’s alright, my dear. Everything will be fine now. Just relax, ok?” She added.
“I told you not to go inside. This place is still closed, Lillia. This maze will open soon for visitors who like to experience extreme passion, even in chocolate. Many people have a passion for experiencing fear, Niña. Haven’t they?”
“If this is a passion for chocolate, then… I HATE CHOCOLATE!” moaned Lillia, pointing nervously at the shed.
Carmella suggested, with a short chortle, “Forget about this, Niña. Now, let’s have a good rest and have a large Italian pizza with scrummy chicken nuggets, chips, and a big fresh soda. What do you think?”
“Yummy, that sounds great, I’m starving, Mama,” cheered Olivia excitedly. “Chop chop! Let’s take a seat in the La Dolce Vita restaurant upstairs and enjoy the pretty view of Lolly Land. You will never regret this, Lillia!” She shrieked with laughter as she sprinted through the long pathway, leaving the others behind her.
