Crabby the Crabby Crab – Chapter 4

The Party

“Sylvia, my friend, this party is just AWESOME! I’m over the moooon!” yelled Crabby astonished, waving his pincers left and right and swinging softly along the table in a cynic harmonious dance.

“I will never miss this beautiful party at any cost!” whispered Adam in Erin’s ear while rubbing his hands in great amusement.
“Beautiful? Do you mean euphoric, Adam?” replied Eron ‘the philosopher’, wiping his tiny glasses with a small white piece of cloth, “For me, it truly beggars description.”
“Of course, it begs… what Eron?”
“Nothing, Adam, nothing.” sighed Eron. “ Just don’t do a bêtise and enjoy your time.”
All around the two young boys, there was a luxurious huge buffet table decorated with large plates full of diverse kinds of creamy desserts, mountains of candies with flavoured French chocolate truffles, and mouth-watering tropical fruit juices, spread in every corner.
In the middle, a large turquoise coffee machine stood like an enormous piece of radiant quartz, whilst many boys and girls walked busily back and forth placing scrumptious food on their plates and then sitting on their comfy chairs to watch a wondrous movie through the smart projector screen.
Meanwhile, on the top of the table, Crabby stood confidently, stretching his pincers and gazing joyfully over the busy crowd.
He looked spick and span in his greenish velvet costume, sparkling under the chandelier lights like a piece of emerald wrapped up under the bright sun rays.
A few minutes later, Sylvia marched down to him and murmured in his ear, “Crabby! Do you like the party?”
“Sylvia, my friend, this party is just AWESOME! I’m over the moooon!” yelled Crabby astonished, waving his pincers left and right and swinging softly along the table in a cynic harmonious dance.
“Wow! This is amazingly perfect, Crabby!” whooped the little girl clapping with laughter.
Then, she added, her sky-blue eyes gleaming with cheerfulness. “I am happy that you liked the party that we had prepared for you, Crabby.”
Not far away from them, Miss Graham sat on a blue velvet armchair in the corner, with her ginger hair made into a chestnut bun. She looked charming in her floral silky shirt with a pair of off-white trousers.
The young teacher was busy sipping her warm milk tea quietly when she suddenly stood up padding across the room towards Crabby then she leaned over and murmured, smiling, “Hello Crabby! What a cheeky crab you were at school!”
“My apologies, Miss Graham,” muttered Crabby, bowing his head.
“Oh, no need to worry, Crabby! It was a fun dynamic experience for me!” declared Miss Graham with a wide, warm smile before she opened her silvery clutch bag and brought out a tiny box engulfed with brown cardboard paper. “This is for you, Crabby.”
As Crabby carefully opened his present he gasped in astonishment.
“I drew this caricature portrait for you yesterday. I hope you will like it,” announced the young lady unfolding a white paper scratch.
“Ah, Crabby. Do you recognise this woman?” she chuckled loudly whilst pointing at a caricature woman lying on the floor. “This is me, the clownish Miss Graham.”
Then she added, “And this tiny thing on my head is … ?”
“ MEEE!” chortled Crabby. “Ah, that day is unforgettable!”
“ Oh yes! For both of …”
“Your attention everyone, please! Here it is! The marvellous CAKE for Mr. CRABBY!!” yelled Sarah, dressed in a magnificent sparkly blazer and pushing a wooden and glass table trolley.
“ Hooray!!” shrieked the crowd thrilled.
At once, the young lady placed the enormous cake on top of the table, just next to Crabby who stepped back and stretched his head, with his wide-open eyes.
It was a real piece of art.
Over the top of the cake, plenty of appetising pieces of fruit were laid to form a multicoloured crown while the lemon glaze provided a bright refreshing shadow to the velvety, buttery layers, embraced by the blue jelly ice frosting.
At the bottom, the creamy, lavish, spongy base absorbed the rich chocolate syrup whilst the strong vanilla scent invaded the guests’ eager noses.
On the extreme top of the cake stood four vivid candles.
“Sylvia, why are there four of these on the cake?” inquired Crabby, tilting his head towards the candles.
“These candles represent the days you stayed with us, Crabby,” answered Sylvia, grinning.
“Now, it’s time to blow the candles, Crabby!”
“Ay, Sylvia, Crabby is too tiny to blow, right? Lemme do it, I’ll blow,” said Adam, pinching his head towards the top of the cake.
Eron glared at Adam yelling, “Adam, no, please! do not….”
PFFFFFFFFF! The little boy blew the candles with all his might, and, in a second, Crabby flew into the void!
“AIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! SOMEONE HELP!!!!!”
“Crabby!!!!!!!!!!!!!” screamed Syvlia frantically trying to catch the flying Crabby.
Poor Crabby, he bounced high into the air, backflipped, and fell in a huge PLOP into the jelly layer of the cake!
In a daze, countless flakes of blue jelly cream flew in the air and fell onto Miss Graham’s hair and clothes.
“Bleh! My favourite BLOUSE!!” wailed the young lady whilst nervously wiping her floral shirt with her sticky hands, when she suddenly lost her balance, blindly hit the cake support, and collapsed on the floor.
In a daze, all the creamy top layers bounced high and tumbled on the lady’s face, still lying next to the table!
SPLASHH!!!
“AAAAAAAAAA” screeched Miss Graham, and as expected, she fainted at once.
A total silence cut the crowd’s noise.
“Oh my God, Miss Graham, are you OK?” cried Sylvia’s mum whilst running towards Miss Graham.
All of a sudden, the doorbell rang, and Sylvia dashed to open the door.
“AH, hello there, young girl!” giggled the headteacher, stepping inside the spacious room, “You still did not eat the cake, right? I apologise for being late, but as they say, better late than sorry!”
“Ummm, sir…”
“Ummmm. What a mess!” exclaimed the headteacher poking his head in, then he shouted, spotting Mrs Graham on the floor. “Oh no, no, no, no! Please don’t tell me that Miss Graham fainted again!”
He rushed inside towards Miss Graham, who was leaning on Sarah’s shoulder.
“Miss Graham, are you ok?” asked the old man, anxiously.
“Yes, yes. I’m fine, thank you,” mumbled Miss Graham, looking down, her face fully blushing.
“OK, good. But Miss Graham, I guess you should change your type of shoes because these,” said the headteacher, pointing at her flat ballerinas, “make you slip over all the time.”
As the headteacher talked, the silence was cut from time to time by the students’ giggles behind his back.
“ANYONE SEEN CRABBY?” squealed Sylvia whilst biting her lips.
Everyone turned to face a little blob of jelly covered with iced sugar sliding from side to side.
“HEY SYLVIA, LOOK! I AM ICE SKATINGGGGGGGGGGGG!” chuckled Crabby eagerly.
“OH, Crabbyyyyyyyyyyy, you cracked me up.” moaned Sylvia whilst shaking her head violently.
Immediately, the crowd burst into peals of laughter.

Bravo talented writer, Bravo, not only for your amazing writings and your style, which has become your “own signature” and which I have not noticed in other writers writings, but for painting a smile every time, so much so that today, after reading the third and fourth parts of the story, you made me not only smile, but also wished I had been invited to your tiny Grabby’s party 😅 Waiting for other stories….
