Another Penguin!
It had been so long since Wingy had been on land, but now, he was in the deep, black water, completely alone and miserable inside an enormous undersea cave. He had lost his way while fleeing from the massive, wicked snake. Soon after, the miserable penguin was depleted underwater. He could no longer bear his weight and began to struggle to breathe.
Inside the gigantic cave, there was nothing but only a perilous darkness all over the place. The walls were made of grey rocks that glistened fairly here and there while a deep alarming silence wrapped every corner like a graveyard.
The young penguin kept turning left and right in search of an exit. Being so terrified, so anxious, he saw the cave as an endless space in his dizzy eyes. As he dived deeper into the cave, it became increasingly narrower and darker as if it were a maze of eternal gloom.
While he glared at the dark walls, he spotted a white speck on the ground which soon morphed into a sea of skulls and bones spread everywhere.
The poor penguin could hear his weak heart pounding so violently in his chest. As he dived rapidly, he bumped into something hard and curved, which prevented him from reaching the bottom of the long cave.
“AIIEE!” shrieked Wingy eagerly. To his great surprise, he saw a penguin standing beside him.
“A PENGUIN!!!” They both screamed at each other.
As the old penguin wiped his velvet boots, the little penguin stared at him in wonder. This stranger penguin looked arrogant and tempestuous. His chest was full of deep and long scars. He wore a necklace adorned with an enormous diamond and wore a red silk scarf tied around his head. He also donned an open shirt and covered his right eye with an eye patch whilst holding a blunt, bright dagger in his left hand.
Suddenly, the old penguin glared furiously at Wingy and muttered some words under his breath.
“What are you doing here?” he asked sternly, pointing his strong finger towards Wingy’s Chest.
Wingy sobbed. “I am lost.”
“Ah! wonderful! You lost your way!” exclaimed the old penguin worriedly. “But why are you here, far away from home? Who are you, young penguin?”
“My name is Wiii… nnngy. I live in Antarctica.” Wingy slurred, “and you, who are you, sir?”
“I am Pungy, Pungy the Pirate,” the old penguin said arrogantly. “Have you heard about me?”
“Pungy… Pungy … hmmm this name rings a bell, let me think … Ah, yes, Pungy, Captain Pungy the famous pirate that filled up the world with his weird adventures. So it is you, you are Captain Pungy, yah?”
“Of course, I am the one and lonely,” responded Pungy the Pirate, still glaring at Wingy before he announced. “Captain Pungy is not an ordinary pirate, my boy, he is the Captain of captains, the gladiator of the seas and lands. Always remember this, got it?”
Then he added, “Apparently, I was told that the old, nasty witch hid some buried treasure here. And as Captain Pungy roamed the seven seas pursuing treasure, he took his ship, crossed the murderous oceans and here he is!”
“A ship!” yelled Wingy loudly. “Oh! I had never been on a ship before! Could your ship travel to Antarctica?”
“Yes!” answered Pungy with a large, pleased grin. “Captain Pungy is certain that his cherished ship can carry us to every corner of this wide world.”
Then in a daze, he started whistling loudly before a tremendous whale swirled around them. As she opened her ample mouth and approached them, they found themselves suddenly inside a pitch-black space.
“We are dead!” cried Wingy, sobbing nervously.
“Oh no, not yet, Wingy!” responded Pungy the Pirate, chuckling. “Welcome on board!”
“My beloved Wingy,” he continued talking proudly, raising his hands to the heavens, “Do you know that Captain Pungy travelled the whole world inside this whale? Captain Pungy is nothing without his whale. It is a part of him. He cannot imagine his life without her!”
“I think you lost your plot Captain Pungy.” Wingy replied, mocking.
“Watch your mouth, young boy. Captain Pungy never lost the plot,” replied Pungy angrily. “You should think twice before talking to him in this disrespectful way.”
“I am sorry,” muttered Wingy. “I didn’t mean to be impertinent”.
Then he added, pointing to Pungy’s scars, “Sir Pungy, what happened to your chest?”
“What?” the old penguin asked.
“This, ummm … These red things.”
“Ah! My scars! That was a foolish accident.” Answered Pungy the Pirate, while scratching his head. “I got these scars while fighting a shark …”
“A SHARK!” shrieked Wingy, shocked.
“Oh! Yes! It was a horrible fight!” Pungy added while giggling. “Young boy, life is hard! You know, during all my trips, I used to battle countless monsters. Let me remember!” He then put his hands on Wingy’s shoulders before saying with a grave voice, “Ah! How many monsters did I fight? I can’t remember; a colossal octopus, a massive poisonous snake, a fierce shark… Wingy my son, in our cruel world, there is no place for pink dreams! Do you get it? You have to be brave. You must fight to survive!”
Listening to this pirate flattering himself for hours and hours was a bitter pill to swallow for the young Wingy, but alas, there was no chance to stay away from him.
“This is my ill luck,” he wondered with great sorrow. “I always knew that I was an ill-fated penguin.”
“Hey! Young boy! Are you listening to me?” asked Pungy shaking Wingy’s shoulder, “What do you think if you go discovering the world, with me, the Captain Pungy?”
“Really!” yelled Wingy with great excitement.
“Yes, absolutely my son. All your life will change from now on. Captain Pungy decided you will be his partner. You and I will reach all the unexplored places and discover all the mysteries of the oceans. We will find all the hidden treasures and share them! My boy, we will be wealthy, very wealthy! “
“HORRAY!!” screamed Wingy with great joy while leaping high. “Let’s go, Captain. The clock is ticking. Let’s voyage to discover the WORLD!”
“It’s time to fasten your belt, young pirate!” screamed Pungy enthusiastically before he added with his strong commanding voice, “This a turning point of your life my son, never forget this. Let’s draw our new path together Wingy. Let us find our feet in this wide secret world!”
And off they sailed at full tilt towards the occult welcoming horizon!!!
