Finder of the Galaxy – Part I

“It’s either half or nothing,” said the villager.

There was a weird blue picture hanging in the village mid-air. It was so bright and weird that nobody even dared to come close to it, until a boy named Finder of the Galaxy decided to climb up a ladder and try to throw it down with his bare hands. They used to call him the Finder of the Galaxy because a few months ago, he had gone into space and  had found a planet named Launchpad. He was doing this because he was poor, and someone bet him to do it and win five-hundred thousand dollars. The people said he had three attempts, and if he didn’t do it, the boy would give the people their whole farm. On his first attempt, he managed to go halfway up the ladder, but because of the brightness, he fell down and ruptured a blood vessel.

“Bring him to the doctors,” said a man from the village.

After calling the doctors, they made the boy get surgery and stitches. The people waited for so long, but he finally came.

“I am back,” said the Finder of the Galaxy.

“Took you long enough,” said the rest of the village.

On his second attempt, he managed to climb the whole ladder and touch the picture, but it was too hot, so he burnt his finger. He got rushed to the hospital again, but he was lucky to come out early, since the doctors already had the cream and the one finger cast.

“I am back from the hospital again,” said the Finder of the Galaxy.

“Finally!” exclaimed the whole village.

On his last and final attempt, everyone was worried for him, especially his family and friends. He climbed up the ladder and jumped, but before he could fall down on the ground, he managed to kick the weird picture down to win the prize of five-hundred thousand dollars.

“Give me my money,” said the boy.

“I am only giving you half because you made us all wait for half of the time,” said the people who owed him money.

“No, you have to give me full!” exclaimed the boy.

“It’s either half or nothing,” said the villager.

“Fine, give me half,” said the boy. “We’re not over just yet here.”

That same night, the Finder of the Galaxy wore his camouflaging suit and headed towards the people who had only given him half of the money they owed him. He left his house and headed to the people’s house who owed him money.

“You have to give the boy all the money you owe him!” said Sara to Sam, the guy who owed the Finder of the Galaxy money.

“No, if we give him the money then we won’t have any money left,” said Sam.

“But that is his money,” argued Sara.

“Okay, stop giving me a headache,” said Sam. “I will give the money I owe him tomorrow morning.”

The next day, Sam woke up and got the money. He headed toward Max, the Finder of the Galaxy.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

“Mom, can you check who is at the door?”  asked Max.

“Okay,” replied mom.

“I am here to give money to Max,” said Sam.

“Max, someone is waiting at the door for you,” said mom.
