“WHAT KINDA GUTS DO YOU HAVE TO COME TO MY DESK AND ROB MY FAKE ANSWER SHEET!!”
“Alright, class! Everyone, clear your desks. Make sure you just have your pencil, eraser and a calculator. If I see anything other than those three things, you will not only get an automatic zero, but also an ‘F’ on your Math Report Card,” said Ms. Rohan.
Emily’s legs were trembling with fear. She hadn’t practiced at all and lied to her mom by saying she had found her review sheet. As Ms. Rohan finished distributing the exam papers, Emily pulled out a cheat-sheet for her exam. She paid Mike twenty bucks for the answer key. Mike was an exam answers seller. He had never been caught in his life because he would threaten students, risking their lives. Emily slowly began copying the answers to the paper, just before Ms. Rohan said something.
“Emily! Can you come here for a second?” asked Ms. Rohan.
Emily’s eyes turned blood-red as her heart began beating twenty beats per second.
She looked around and asked, “May I use the bathroom? Please.”
“No, Emily, I need you here right now!!” yelled Ms. Rohan.
“Am I caught?! I am getting expelled now?” thought Emily in her overflooded brain.
Emily walked to the teacher’s desk as her legs wobbled one right after the other.
“Yes, Ms. Rohan? Am I in trouble for something?” asked Emily.
“What do you think? You think you are in trouble, Emily?” asked Ms. Rohan.
“Well, I don’t know,” said Emily.
“You forgot your exam review sheet yesterday. That is trouble. How did you study?” asked Ms. Rohan.
Emily’s heartbeat returned back to normal as her eyes cooled down like ice.
“Yeah! The sheet practice thing. I messaged ..um.. you know.. KINNY! Your old junior year student. Your favorite student??” said Emily.
Ms. Rohan thought Emily was acting quite fishy so she said, “Okay… um. Let me contact Kinny and ask her how she still has the review sheets from grade eleven. That’s quite impressive.”
“No need!!” said Emily.
“Huh. Why not?” asked Ms. Rohan.
“Um.. It’s because… Kinny’s sister’s best friends all died in a car accident so she is in Japan attending their funeral. It must be a hard time for her so maybe call her next week? She will be more happy then.. hehe,” said Emily.
“Interesting. Now go finish your paper. You have ten minutes left. It’s only five questions,” said Ms. Rohan.
“Okay,” said Emily.
Emily headed back to her seat and finished her exam. She handed it in the exam basket and left the class, uncertain what would happen next.
The Next Day
“Hello, class! We have some outstanding performances and some poor performances. And two students who cheated,” said Ms. Rohan. All the students opened their mouths in shock and looked at one another. “Emily and Mike! You both are getting big and thick ‘F’s on your report cards. CHEATERS! WHAT KINDA GUTS DO YOU HAVE TO COME TO MY DESK AND ROB MY FAKE ANSWER SHEET!!! That’s why you both have been getting A’s!”
“NO! I never cheated in my life. You see, yesterday I forgot my review sheet at school and never contacted Kinny. It was all a lie. I wasn’t ready, so for the first time, I purchased the answer key from Mike. He sells them for twenty bucks,” said Emily.
“Thanks, Emily. I have heard enough. One more chance for Emily since you did not lie, but as for Mike… YOU ARE EXPELLED! For selling illegal stuff. I’ll be getting in touch with your parents, but for now, LEAVE THE SCHOOL!” screamed Ms. Rohan as the class shook in fear.
“Thanks, Ms. Rohan,” said Emily.
“I wouldn’t normally do that. Your mom emailed me that you forgot it and you were gonna cheat. Your mom knows you well, Emily!” exclaimed Ms. Rohan.
“Thanks. I know, mothers do know their kids very well,” said Emily as she smiled.
