Disappeared – Part II

The moment I realized that Toby had disappeared, I was sweating frantically. Without me realizing it, I grabbed my stuff, and my legs just left the ground. Each step I took, I wondered, “Am I still in this universe? Do I still exist? Is this a dream? And is Toby still alive?” I pulled the door open, slammed the door, and ran straight into my room. As I lay down, my eyes blacked out, leading me into internal darkness.
A few hours past witnessed the day morph into Wednesday. The town was in a seizure because of the incident. People were already losing hope because no one had been found alive when they disappeared in the past. With my head down, I slowly walked to school trying to remember what had happened yesterday.
“Are you feeling alright?” That was the only phrase that I heard every day. People asked me left and right if I needed any emotional help. From counselors to people whom I didn’t even know came up to me and asked me to tell them if I needed any help. During the middle of the day, the principal made a public announcement.
“Hello everyone, this is your principal speaking right now. As you have heard, Toby was unfortunately the latest victim of the unknown monster. Please wish the best for Toby’s family as they are going through a hard time,” announced the principal. “Can Juan report to the principal office?”
As the announcement finished, I felt a weird sensation of the feeling that many people were staring at me. I got out of my seat and started walking down the hallway to the principal’s office. When I arrived in front of the door of the office, I slowly opened the door peeping inside the room.
“Come inside Juan,” said the principal.
I slowly walked towards the empty seats. I sat down and took a look around. Numerous people were holding their own small notepads trying to take note about the incident yesterday.
“Did you see anything suspicious yesterday?” asked one of the policemen.
“No, I saw nothing that could’ve made Toby disappear,” I replied.
After the long interview had finished, I decided to go back to the lake to search for anything weird that I hadn’t noticed. I told my mom that I was going to be late because of a school event and went straight on to the lake where Toby had disappeared yesterday. As I arrived, I looked around the lake and saw something moving inside the waters.
