Daddy’s Money or Your Money?

Working hard for your own money has its own taste of joy. It could be buying an iPhone, a PlayStation or even helping the needy with it. Most kids in this generation expect their parents to purchase for them everything that they crave. However, when parents eventually retire and are not able to provide for you, then it is your turn to provide for them. Therefore, when your parents forcefully make you study when you are young, it provides you with safe haven when you struggle the most. Now moving to the point—what are the advantages of earning your own money to purchase something special? Firstly, it shows that you really want it and truly desire the item you are working to buy. For example, let us say you get a job at a local cafeteria in your neighborhood, so you can save up for a coffee machine that provides for your parents. You would probably really enjoy working there too, knowing that it would eventually get you what you crave most. Another example I look down to when I was younger was making garage sales. I would love to sell my toys for a few dollars, so soon I could save up for some stickers for a business. I loved selling stuff, because it pushed me to work hard and keep pursuing my dreams. Another advantage of purchasing stuff with your own money is that you feel proud of yourself. For example, you ask your parents to get you an electric bike. Most likely, they could consider it in their bucket list and eventually give it to you. However, if you go get a job or make some garage sales, you would eventually get enough money to buy it. You would always care for that bike remembering how much work and consideration you put into that bike. On the other hand, if your parents gave you the bike, you probably would not mind it breaking or getting wrecked, so saving up for your own money could really be an accomplishment for even young kids and a good way to learn about the basics of financial literacy. Some ways you could get some money if you do not receive an allowance is asking your parents for a glass container and some marbles. Every day, if you behaved very well and got good grades, you could kindly ask your parents to give you one marble every night. Soon, by the end of the year, you would have around 365 dollars (seventy-five thousand rupees) or sometimes less if you did not behave well on certain days. However, you have accomplished a minimum budget to buy yourself a toy or anything you have been willing to purchase the whole year. At the end of the day, even if you did not earn money, keep studying hard, so one day you can have a good job and earn more halal money than you could ever even have imagined.
