As the two part ways, Ava walks into her house and into her room, puts all her stuff away, gets ready for bed, and then starts to do homework with what kind of dinner she wants in mind.
Mrs. Lovegrow: Ava! Time for dinner. Come downstairs!
Ava: Coming, mom! I’ll be down in a few minutes.
As Ava closes her books and puts stuff away, her phone rings and it turns out to be Brooks calling.
Phone: [Brooks singing] Heartbreak is one thing my ego’s another. I beg you don’t embarrass me. My favorite person I…
Ava picks up with Brooks, screaming about their secret trip and how they’d gotten tickets without being over 18!
Ava felt so excited since this was her first trip without her parents. Those were going to be the best 3 days of her life. It’s just they need to get the whole Ami and Jay situation figured out but either way, Ava knows this plan will work.
Mrs. Lovegrow: AVA! I asked you to come down here a long time ago!
Ava: Sorry, mom. I’ll be down right now.
Mrs. Lovegrow: You better be.
Ava yells at Brooks for calling her and tells him to have a nice day. Right after that, she speeds downstairs without her mom even noticing and sits at the table with her phone in her hand
Mrs. Lovegrow: What took you so long? You’re always on that phone. I swear, it’s like it’s glued to your hand.
Ava: Sorry, I was finishing up some homework.
Dinner helps her relax, but her mind is still buzzing about the trip. She twirls spaghetti around her fork and she tries to focus on eating, but her thoughts keep drifting back to Brooks and their secret adventure. Three days away from home feel like a dream, and she’s determined not to let anything ruin it.
Mrs. Lovegrow: You seem distracted. Is something wrong?
Ava looks up, trying to play it cool.
Ava: No, I’m fine. Just thinking about school. The test today was harder than I thought.
Mrs. Lovegrow watches her for a moment then nods. Ava’s heart pounds as she eats a piece of garlic bread, trying to act normal. But her mind is already planning. She knows this trip is risky, but it feels like the start of something new and exciting.
For now, she has to stay calm, keep the trip a secret, and get Ami and Jay on board. One wrong move, and her mom would figure everything out. But Ava was ready to take the chance.
As she finishes her dinner, her mind races with thoughts of what’s ahead. She’s on the edge of something big, and nothing is going to stop her from making these three days the best of her life.
