Best Friends & Big Adventures – Part I

Ava: Okay. Good plan, but what about the fact that our parents may find out by not seeing us in our rooms when we’re not there?

Two best friends Ava and Brooks meet up at their usual table like they always do, sit down, and start talking.

Brooks: How was your day so far, Ava?

Ava: It was fine, but today in music class, it was so funny how one of our teachers made a joke about Amal today. It’s too funny every time I think about it. Well, since you asked me, I’m gonna ask you: how was your day?

Brooks: Well … I heard some drama.

Ava’s eyes widen with curiosity.

Ava: What kind of drama?

Brooks leans in, lowering his voice.

Brooks: You know Sarah from English class? She got into a fight with Jessica. It was intense.

Ava gasps.

Ava: No way! What happened?

Brooks: Apparently, it started when Jessica accidentally bumped into Sarah in the hallway. Sarah thought it was on purpose and things escalated from there. They were shouting at each other, and then it got physical.

Ava shakes her head in disbelief.

Ava: Wow, that’s crazy. I wonder what’s going to happen next.

Brooks: Yeah, I heard they got sent to the principal’s office. It’s all over school now,

Brooks glances around to see if anyone else is listening and then just start laughing out of nowhere but either way, they’re both having fun. When the two best friends walk to their class, grab their seats, and start listening to the lesson on how to cook, they start to talk to each other.

Ava: Hey Brooks, do you want to talk about our trip?

Brooks: Yeah, sure. What’s up?

Ava: How are we gonna tell our parents to believe we can go by ourselves?

Brooks: Well, I have an idea and I know it will work.

Ava: So …

Brooks: So … what?

Ava: Bro, weren’t you just gonna tell me?

Brooks: Exactly. I’m not gonna tell. The same way how we won’t tell our parents about this.

Ava: Okay. Good plan, but what about the fact that our parents may find out by not seeing us in our rooms when we’re not there?

Brooks: Well, I also have an idea for that too. Do you know those kids, Ami and Jay?

Ava: Yeah why?

Brooks: They look exactly like us when you think about it.

Ava: Oh yeah! They do.

Brooks: Yeah and I paid them to come to our houses for the two days when we’re gone and act like us.

Ava: There’s a downside to that though.

Brooks: Wait, what? I already thought this all the way through. There’s nothing I’m missing??!!

Ava: Have you thought about all the things we have to tell them?

Brooks: Like what?

Ava: What we act like, what we do at night before going to bed, our morning routines and your morning routine is gonna be wayyy too hard to follow.

Brooks: No, it’s not. I follow it and it’s so easy. How hard could it be? Explain.

Ava: YOU’VE BEEN FOLLOWING THIS ROUTINE FOR THE PAST 5 YEARS. OF COURSE YOU’VE PERFECTED IT. THAT’S WHY YOU THINK IT IS SO EASY. But then also, how do you do all those things in the time frame you have? You need to tell people how you do it.

Brooks: Well, the easiest thing to do is practice for five years straight and then you got it all down.

Ava: Really, Brooks? That’s all you have to say?

Brooks: Haha.

Ava: Hate you.

Brooks: Like you.

Ava: This is why we’re best friends.

Brooks: Correction: besties.

Ava: Alright, ”Bestie”.

Brooks: Hope we have fun tomorrow.

Ava: I know we will.

So then the two best friends–

Brooks: Hey, narrator. Correction: it’s actually “Besties” just to let you know. Thanks. Bye!!! Um, okay?

So the two “Besties” finish their school day and part ways but we’re going to Ava’s house, so she can finish homework and eat dinner.
