Oh no, mom. How can I study? I can’t study so I am gonna fail and then I will get an ‘F’ and then I will be expelled and then I will be a janitor and then I will lose my job and then I will be HOMELESS!
Emily stacked her arms on top of each other as she slowly rested her head on them causing her to close her eyes and fall asleep, just before hearing a loud voice.
“Miss Emily, no sleeping in class!” shouted Mrs. Rohan.
“Sorry about that. I forgot to sleep last night!” said Emily.
“Forgot is a big word. Nobody forgets to sleep. They just don’t. Listen, this school is only for the best. You are failing every subject other than art. I am giving you one more chance before I complain to the Oric Highschool Administrator,” said Mrs. Rohan.
“Sure, whatever…” said Emily.
The teacher continued teaching the class as Emily just stared at the board trying to make art out of the numbers.
Just as the bell rang, Emily ran out of the class, unaware if she had forgotten anything behind.
Emily walked out of the school building as she began searching for her parents. Dismissal time was the most hectic time of the day and it was the most irritating time for Emily as well.
“Emily! Honey! Your mommy and daddy are here to pick you up from your first day in grade eleven!!” said Emily’s parents.
Emily opened her new iPhone and messaged her mom to stop embarrassing her in front of all the people. All the kids pointed and laughed at Emily for having cringy parents who babied her, just before Emily drove away in her car.
“Thanks a lot ‘mommy and daddy’ for embarrassing me in front of the school. I understand if you are calling me that at home, but not okay if you are saying that out in the public. I am sixteen years old!” cried Emily.
“I’m sorry for that, baby. I just wanted to make your day. I won’t do that again, I promise!” said Emily’s mom, Annie.
“You always make promises, but you never fulfill them, mom,” said Emily.
“How about this? I know your exam is tomorrow, so let’s grab some ice cream on the way home!” said Emily’s father, Fiddly.
“Sure…” said Emily as she was excited from the inside, not the outside.
1 Hour Later…
Emily opened her backpack as she began searching for her exam review sheets.
“Mom! Can you come here please?!” asked Emily.
“Yes, hunny bunny! What seems to be the matter?” asked Annie.
“I can’t find my Exam Review Sheet!” yelled Emily.
“Let’s try not to panic. Do you think you left it at school, Emm?” asked Annie.
“Wait… YES I DID! Oh no, mom. How can I study? I can’t study so I am gonna fail and then I will get an ‘F’ and then I will be expelled and then I will be a janitor and then I will lose my job and then I will be HOMELESS! AAAA!” yelled Emily.
“CALM DOWN, EMMY!” said Annie. “Let’s go search in school.”
“But-but school is closed!” said Emily.
Twenty minutes later, Emily was on the dinner table hardly getting by, finishing her mac and cheese salad. She took a small bite as she threw her fork down on the plate.
“I can’t eat when I am not ready for my test tomorrow! I forgot my sheet at school,” said Emily.
“I will email your teacher to postpone your exam. Just calm down for now. It is not really your fault that I picked you early for your doctor’s appointment,” said Annie.
Emily stood up and loaded her plates into the dishwasher. She dried her hands with the towel and thought if she could buy the answers to her exam. Emily had never cheated in her past years.
