A Prowling Leopard – Part II

The campers shot into the cave like an arrow and arduously blocked the entrance with a giant boulder. But the thought of being safe didn’t last long, for they weren’t alone. Now, hundreds of devilish red eyes were staring at them menacingly. The eyes were red emeralds–beautiful but also possibly danger. Mickey scrambled to light their torches. He grabbed the matches, spilling most of it on the ground. His hand trembled as violent as a house in an earthquake. Match after match, he finally lit the ancient torch. In the dim light, the owners of those eyes came out of the blue: Vampire bats. There were so many of them, the cave was covered from end to end by these devils making the bumpy wall assume an evil grin. Even though a portion was still in their dreams, a fair amount of them were already awake and ready to welcome the guests by sucking the living daylights from their flesh.

Daniel screamed in silence.

“It would take years to count those bats!” Jones exclaimed.

“What’s that?” asked Mickey, pointing at a speck of light at the very end of the cave. “I think it’s the way out. Let’s go quietly!”

After what seemed like an eternity, they reached the exit. The sight terrified them yet again! Outside the cave, they found a dozen balls of furs and in the very middle were two extremely large leopards just like the one they have met on the other side of the cave. Only these two were larger, the claws were sharper, and they were currently asleep. The last thing the boys wantws to do was being chased by a leopard, having a whole entire cave of bats behind them, and two leopards blocking their way to freedom.

What could they have done? Was it the end of their adventure now?
