 Bum From World War II

“Ughh! You dropped my food. Do you know how much this costs?” asked Mike. “Do you know how much this costs? Well of course you do not, because you are just a poor bum who is publicly drinking on the streets.”

“I am sorry for what I did,” said the poor man.

“You know what, I am calling 9-1-1,” said Mike.

“No no, please don’t,” said the poor man. “I don’t want to go to jail.”

“Well, if you don’t want me to,” said Mike. “Then how about you give me the chain that is hanging down your rusty neck.”

“No, I can’t,” said the man. “It is too important for me.”

“Well if that is the case, then I will be calling 9-1-1.”

“Okay fine,” said the poor man. “You can have it.”

“That’s what I thought,” said Mike.

Once Mike got home, he opened the door and went to his dad who was looking at pictures of World War II, since he fought in it.

“Dad, didn’t I tell you to not look at those pictures,” said Mike.

“Yeah, I know but I can’t control myself,” said dad. “Wait a second, where did you get that chain from?” asked dad.

“From a poor bum on the street,” Mike replied.

“Bring me to him,” said dad.

“Why?” Mike asked.

“Just bring me to him,” said dad. “I will tell you why later.”

“Get in the car then,” said Mike.

“Okay,” replied dad.

After driving for twenty minutes, Mike showed his dad where he found the poor man.

“That’s him,” said Mike.

“Do you know who this is?” asked dad.

“No,” replied Mike. “Why would I know about a poor bum who is publicly drinking on the streets?”

“This person is the guy that saved me in World War II,” said dad. “He saved me and then walked Twenty Meteres and finally brought me to the doctors.”

“I am so sorry for how I treated him,” said Mike. “If I just knew what he did for you, I would not have done what I did to him.”

“Come on, let’s bring him to the doctors,” said Mike. “He still has two pulses left.”

After that, Mike and the dad picked up the poor man and brought him to the hospital.

“Where am I?” asked the poor man. “Where am I?”

“You are finally awake,” said dad. “Don’t worry, because you are safe in the hospital.”

“So is this the guy?” asked Mike.

“Yes, he is,” said dad.

“Oh yeah I almost forgot, you can have your chain back,” said Mike.

“Thank you!” said the poor man. “Why are you helping me?”

“After knowing what you did for my dad, I would be glad to help you,” replied Mike.

After getting dismissed from the hospital, they brought the poor man to their house to let him take a shower and let him stay and sleep in their house. After he got cleaned up, they brought him outside for dinner to have burgers, fries and a milkshake at Crystal Foods. When they came back from home, they watched a movie with a cup of matcha coffee.
